| The
Denomination of Origin "Bizkaiko Txakolina" celebrated at the
Guggenheim Museum of Bilbao the official presentation
of the txakoli (local white wine) production corresponding to the
year 2008. The Denomination of Origin,
managed by Elena Unzueta, named as ambassadors of the txakoli the
Bellas Artes museum of Bilbao and Geugaz Jan, the Association of Chefs
of the province of Biscay .
Some other institutional personalities attended to the event, amongst
them, the general Deputy of Biscay Jose Luis Bilbao, the Deputy of
Agriculture of
the Government of Biscay Irene Pardo, the Major of Bilbao Iñaki
Azkuna and the Food Quality
Director of the Basque Government Amaia Barredo. The event was
presented by
the journalist Ilaski Serrano The presentation ended with the official toast which was followed by the degustation of the txakolis elaborated by the 17 biggest productors of Biscay. All this accompanied with a wide range of tapas elaborated by some chefs. Txakoli production in 2008 reached 1.073.525 litres, sn increase of 18,59% compared to the 905.186 litres produced during 2007. pictures |
