The municipality of
Lezama held last Sunday the "Uzta Eguna", a local fair which,
coinciding with vintage time, aims to promote the txakoli (local white
wine) of the Txorierri region.
Between other attractions, all the people congregated within the town
had the chance to taste the juice of the grapes coming from this year's
vintage. Besides, the nine wineries of the Txorierri who took part
offered the attendees about 750 liters of txakoli to taste. The
wine-makers that were present at the fair were the following ones: Garkalde Txakolina,
Basalbeitiko Txakolina, Txakoli Ayarza, Bodega Aitabitxi, Magalarte
Txakolina, Larrabetzuko Torre Txakolina,
Erdikoetxe Txakolina, Sasikoetxe eta Txakoli Sasines.
There were not absent in the Uzta Eguna diverse
producers of the agricultural world of Biscay who offered to the people gathered
in Lezama cheese of sheep and goat, bread, Basque cake, honey, vegetable,
fruit and pork products.
The goal of the fair was to thank the efforts made by the
txakoli producers of the Txorierri to elaborate a first leve winel and make the
name of the region well-known within all the corners of the Basque Country.
